Reputed daughter of Richard Wells of Constitution Hill, and the main beneficiary of his will. A son, Joseph Wells Brockman, was born in 1807 and baptised that year in Kingston, Jamaica, a "free mulatto". By 1811 she had two daughters as well, Catherine Wells Brockman and Nancy Wells Brockman.
