Worthington Brice

Biography

Bristol merchant and former partner of Samuel Span the younger and probably of Samuel Span the elder. Bankrupt in 1812. In his will, proved 02/03/1826, Brice claimed to be owed £12,000-£13,000 by Samuel Span the elder and by Samuel Span the younger, and to be owed further amounts secured on the latter's estates in Trinidad. He left half of the money to his natural son John Oland and half to his nephew James Smith and his family.
