Biography

Hon. Peter Robertson, resident slave-owner in Jamaica. Custos of St Thomas in the East and St David in 1813; and of St Thomas in the East in 1811 and 1818. In 1826, House of Assembly representative for St Thomas in the East for 21 years; and unanimously returned. Hon. Peter Robertson died on the eve of compensation; his relatives in England sought information on his compensation awards in 1842.

T71/1608: letter dated 22/03/1842 from Philip R. Miller [probably Philip Robertson Miller, born Kilmarnock c. 1820], 4 Moor Place, out of London Road, Liverpool, seeking details of the compensation paid on St Thomas-in-the-East claim nos. 61, 450, 560, 561 and 562 stating that 'the late Mr Robertson was a near relative of my family and we are unable to obtain any trace of his effects or how they were disposed of.'
