Patrick Stirling

Biography

Eldest surviving son of Patrick [Anthony Cooke shows William] Stirling, 4th of Kippendavie and his wife Margaret Douglas. Successed his father in November 1745. "He was in Jamaica in 1753 with Robert Stirling, son of James Stirling of Keir. As eldest son of the deceased Patrick Stirling, he was infeft in Kippendavie in 1760, on a precept from Archibald Stirling of Keir the superior... He made his will at Hampden, Jamaica, on 11th December 1775. He died on the following day, and was succeeded by his brother John."

Patrick Stirling of St James, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1776. Slave-ownership at probate: 129 of whom 71 were listed as male and 58 as female. 22 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £19,361 Jamaican currency of which £9,385 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £6,000 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
