Biography

London merchant, bankrupt in 1810. With his partner John Henderson he was party to an assignment of Richmond and Howards on Antigua to their assignees Edward Ellice and William Holden in 1816.

  1. Will of Archibald Neilson of Old Jewry proved 23/06/1823. Under the will he left his estate to his natural daughter Anna Jeanne Nielson, wife of Thomas Carmichael, subject to a legacy of £1000 to his natural son Alfred Neilson. He noted that Thomas Carmichael was of Nantes: 'Carmichael' had 4 slave voyages from Nantes 1823-1827 and 12 from Le Havre 1786-1793, the latter mostly in partnership with John and William Collow. Remarkably, administration of this will was granted in 1918, effects £600.
