Father of George Rosewell Bennett (q.v.).

The will of George Bennett was proved in Jamaica in 1748.

George Bennett of St Andrew, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1748. Slave-ownership at probate: 496 of whom 279 were listed as male and 217 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £27383.23 Jamaican currency of which £18483.25 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £154.38 currency cash, £661.42 currency debts and £106.75 currency plate.

1631 acres and 19 enslaved people were owned by the estate of [?] Bennett in St Andrew in 1753. A further 360 acres and 19 enslaved people were owned by the estate of George Bennett.

Richard Thompson and George Bennet were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 2330 acres of land in St Thomas-in-the-East. Presumably this referred to either George Bennett of St Andrew or his son George Rosewell Bennett, although one was deceased and the other a minor at the time.
