William Caldwell

???? - 1826

Biography

Resident slave-owner, dying c. 1826. Probably previously partner with Peter McKinlay or McKinley (q.v.), and husband of Grace nee Hine.

  1. The inscription recorded at Kingston Parish Church to William Caldwell is confusing but probably refers to William Caldwell of Kingston (q.v.): WILLIAM CALDWELL, ESQ., ALDERMAN OF THIS CITY MEM. OF ASSLY FOR ST. DOROTHY. BORN MAY 15, 1771, AT BEVINGTON BUSH, NEAR LIVERPOOL, AND DIED JANY. 29, 1819, IN HIS 45th [sic] YEAR, AFTER A RESIDENCE OF 26 YEARS IN THIS ISLAND.
