John Vassall IV

???? - 1827

Biography

Son of John Vassall III (q.v.).

  1. Will of John Vassall of Lymington proved 26/04/1827. Under the will he left his share of estates [and enslaved people] in Jamaica to his cousin Spencer Lambert Hunter Vassall, the son of his late uncle Spencer Thomas Vassall (both of whom q.v.). He left his personal property in England to secure an annuity of £500 p.a. for his mother, and after her death for her to convey £10,000 principal to whomever she chose. He left a further £10,000 to his executor James Monro and £5000 to his other executor Samuel St Barbe. In a codicil it became clear that James Monro was now his stepfather, having married his mother Elizabeth: he left her his house at Lymington as well as his 'cutter yacht' called The Charles [sp?].
