Rev. Charles Edward Stewart

Rector of Wakes Colnes in Essex 1795-1819. Through his wife Ann Alethea nee Wallin (q.v.) he came into possession of the Litchfield estate in St Thomas-in-the-Vale in Jamaica. Author of several volumes, including A Collection of Trifles in Verse (1797) and Obedience to government, reverence to the Constitution, and resistance to Bonaparte: a sermon preached at Bury St. Edmund's, before the Right Hon. Lord Chief Baron MacDonald, and the Honourable Mr. Baron Hotham, at the Assizes, held there July 29, 1803, as well as some pamphlets of political commentary.
