Owner of Schawfield, which he left to his five sons as tenants-in-common. Father of Sameul Lyddall Schaw (q.v.) and others. Dead before 1771.
James Schaw was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 600 acres of land in St James.
James Schaw of St James, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1766. Slave-ownership at probate: 115 of whom 55 were listed as male and 60 as female. 24 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £5612.13 Jamaican currency of which £4463 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
