Slave-owner on Tortola, the first European man to be executed for the murder of an enslaved person. He has an entry in the ODNB as 'planter in the West Indies and murderer.' 'About 1792 he inherited the Belle Vue estate in Tortola.' There is an image of him (as Arthur William Hodge) in the National Portrait Gallery.
