Biography

London merchant and banker. Director of the East India Company. MP for Barnstaple 1754-1766.

Second son of Claudius Amyand, brother of the MP Claudius Amyand. Educated Westminster 1729-1735. Created a baronet in 1764. Owner of La Taste estate in Grenada, which he bought shortly before his death. The complete trust will of Sir George Amyand of Carshalton Surrey proved 22/08/1766 has not been fully analysed by LBS but appears to deal with his property other than in Grenada.
