Biography

Almost certainly the 'John Haggar' shown as co-owner of Wag Water or Wagwater in St Mary Jamaica in 1760. He was the son-in-law of Henry Bendysh senior and brother-in-law of Henry Bendysh junior, both previous owners of the estate.

  1. Will of John Hewett Hagar of [Wigmore Street] St Marylebone proved 10/03/1784. The will is silent on Jamaica property or enslaved people, and provides primarily for Hagar's nephews and nieces, the sons of his late brother Rev. Robert Hagar.
