29th Jul 1812 - ????
Probably the David Hutchison named in the will of David Hutchison of Coffee Grove as one of his reputed children. Very likely also the son of Elizabeth Hunt, "a free woman of colour".
Born 29/07/1812 and baptised at Elgin estate in 1820 at the same time as his siblings Jean, Eleanor, Margaret, Charlotte and James. David Hutchison Esquire, planter of Jamaica, residing at 45 Heriot Row (the house of his aunt Isabella Hutchison) married Antoinette Alexina Duff of 14 Northumberland Street, Edinburgh, daughter of the late Anthony Dominic Duff Esquire, merchant of New York, in Edinburgh in 1837.
David A. Hutchison, age 45, a planter of Jamaica, emigrated to New York in 1857 with his wife Antionetta A., age 35 and children David (age 18), George (16), Mary (15), Henry (11), Anna (10), Robert (7), Agnes (6), Joseph (3), Richard (2) and Eugenia (6 months).
Antonetta died in childbirth in Niagara, New York in 1860 at the age of 37.
David Hutchison, age 48, Farmer with real estate to the value of $2000 and personal estate to the value of $600, born West Indies, was living in Newfane, Niagara, New York, in the census of 1860 with Mary Hutchison (age 19), George (17), John (16), Henry (14), Robert (13), Anna (12), Agnes (10), Joseph (9), Elizabeth (8), Ellen (5), Eugenia (4) and Antonette (5 months). All the children were born in the West Indies except Henry (born England) and Antonette (born New York).
In 1870 his four youngest children were living in East Saginaw, Michigan. In the same house was David A. Hutchison, age 54 (though he would have been 58), born Scotland (sic.), with the occupation "keeps saloon". It's not clear if this is the same David Hutchison or a relative. All are given as white.
See separate entry for David Hutchison for a summary of his will.
