Bedingfield Pogson of Edwardstone, Suffolk

???? - 1801

Biography

  1. Bedingfield Pogson married Elizabeth Philadelphia Pearce (daughter of Charles Pearce Hall and Elizabeth Philadelphia nee Cunningham, both q.v.) in St Katherine Creechurch, London, 11/05/1780.

  2. Will of Bedingfield Pogson 'of Edwardstone Suffolk' [made in 1800] proved 22/02/1802. Under the will he left his estate in trust to his wife for life and then to be divided between his children other than the eldest or only son who at the time of his share was in actual possession of the estates in St Kitts 'now in possession of my brother John Pogson'. He authorised his trustees to call in and use £3000 of £8000 charged on the Deep Bay and Cayon estates on St Kitts to invest in government stocks for his wife and children. It is not clear that Bedingfield Pogson lived at Edwardstone: John Pogson, presumably the John Pogson who was Bedingfield's father, had been the most recent occupier of New House, Edwardstone when it was put up for rent in 1767, and several of Bedingfield's children were baptised at Sutton in Surrey in the 1780s.
