Daniel Lascelles

Baptised 20 May 1714. Second son of Henry Lascelles MP and brother of Edwin Lascelles 1st Baron Harewood (q.v.). MP for Northallerton 1752-1780. Largely passive: not known to have ever spoken in the Commons. And vacated the seat when it was wanted for his brother Edwin, who succeeded him in the seat, 9 December 1780. In 1781 Daniel chaired the committee of merchants and planters in Barbados to consider what action should be taken following the hurricane. Both Edwin and Daniel were signatories of the 1783 address to George III by planters of the West India islands residing in Great Britain and merchants trading to those islands.
