Biography

Owner of Lochaber estate in Manchester, Jamaica.

  1. Dr John Waugh, Lochaber, advertised that he would shortly be leaving Jamaica and invited his creditors to submit their accounts, May 1814. At the same time he advertised for sale Lochaber coffee plantation (700 acres) in Vere, 50 enslaved people to be disposed with the property.

  2. In June 1814, as of Lochaber, John Waugh advertised that he wished to purchase 40 enslaved people.

  3. Dr John Waugh was reported to have died “lately” in Manchester parish, September 1816.

  4. Miss L. J. Waugh, daughter of the late Dr John Waugh of Jamaica, married Robert Henderson, writer in Selkirk, at Melrose [Roxburghshire], 17/10/1820.
