Margaret Gage (née Kemble)

1734 - 1824

Biography

  1. Margaret and John Gage were shown as co-owners of the Gage estate on Montserrat in 1817, 1821 and 1824: subsequently, only John Gage appears. Almost certainly, this is Margaret Gage whose will [as 'widow of St James Westminster'] was proved 25/02/1824, the widow of The Hon. General Thomas Gage: one of their sons Henry became 3rd Viscount Gage, another - John - was presumably the John Gage of the Slave Register entries for Gage's.

  2. John Gage was living in Wimpole Street, London, and his mother Margaret at Dover Street, London, when they appointed Sir Patrick Blake and Queely Shiell as attorneys for Gage's estate in 1801.
