Elizabeth White of Ashcott

???? - 1820

Biography

  1. Will of Elizabeth White of Ashcott in the county of Somerset [made in 1817] proved 03/07/1820. Under the will she left £1000 each to her grandchildren Maria, John, William, Eliza and Matilda, the children of her son John Atkins on his death; £200 to her nephew John Trutch the elder; and £100 to 'my faithful steward ____ Richards of Kingston island of Jamaica.' She left her real estate in Somerset and Jamaica, and her enslaved people, to John Atkins with the request that he in turn should leave them to his children equally with no preference to the eldest. She stressed however that this was not intended as a condition of the legacy. She had previously made a will in Jamaica.
