Frances Marlton (née White)

???? - 1827

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Co-heiress of her father David White (q.v.). The executor of Francis (sic., in fact Frances) Marlton claimed part of the compensation for the enslaved people on the Whitehall estate in Jamaica.

  1. Frances Marlton aged 50 was buried St Luke's Chelsea 31/10/1827: the will of Frances Marlton widow of Chelsea was proved 03/01/1828. The will mentions her sister Sarah Gaven and thus identifies Frances as the daughter of David White, owner of Whitehall estate in Portland, Jamaica, who died in 1797. Each daughter inherited £4,000 in their father's will; presumably this was converted into a mortgage on Whitehall.
