George Goodin Barrett

Son of Edward Barrett and Judith Goodin. With Elissa or Eliza Peters, George Goodin Barrett had six children who were sent to live with John Graham Clarke (q.v.) in Newcastle-upon-Tyne after Barrett's death in 1795. They should 'not fix their abode in Jamaica but do settle and reside in such countries where those distinctions respecting colour are not maintained.' Partner with Leonard Parkinson (q.v.) as slave factors at Montego Bay and other northern and north-western Jamaican ports c. 1793.

1. Administration of the will of George Goodin Barrett of Trelawney [made in 1794 with a codicil of 1795] granted 10/08/1808. He freed Elisa Peters, a 'mulatto woman' lately conveyed to him by his father Edward, and left her an annuity of £50 p.a. He left £2000 each to his six children.
