Christopher Senior Lawrence was Senior

11th May 1777 - 1st Jul 1812

Biography

  1. Son of Gilbert Senior and his wife Mary nee Lawrence. Owner of Tripoli estate in St Ann, Jamaica. Changed his name to Lawrence as stipulated in the will of his uncle John Lawrence (q.v.) of St Ann. The will of his son Rev. Christopher Senior Lawrence of Ash Priors Somerset was proved 24/07/1855: in it, the Rev. Lawrence referred to his property in Jamaica.

  2. Christopher Senior Lawrence married Sarah Fussell Slocombe (1775-1825) and had three children: Mary Lawrence (1808-), Christopher Senior Lawrence (1809-1855) and Sophia Olivia Lawrence (1811-). The connection with the Slocombe family is seen in the will of Jemima Webber nee Slocombe, Sarah's first cousin once removed (Jemima's father Thomas Slocombe (b. 1718) was the brother of Sarah's grandfather Robert Slocombe (b. 1723)). Jemima made Sarah's son Christopher junior the third in line to inherit Slocombe property in Somerset and described him as “the grandson of my late cousin William Slocombe, deceased, and which said William Slocombe was the son of my late uncle Robert Slocombe, deceased, the brother of my father Thomas Slocombe, Esquire, deceased.”
