Robert Hilton Angwin

???? - 1833

Biography

Also given as Robert Hilton Angevin. Natural son and co-heir of John Angwin (q.v.) of St Ann's, Jamaica, and slave-owner on the Hampton/Southampton estate. He married Harriet Browne of St Mary Church Devon at St Bride's Fleet Street 27/03/1819, when he was described as 'widower.'

  1. Will of Robert Hilton Angwin of St Mary Church Devon proved 07/10/1833. After monetary legacies of £25 each to his sisters-in-law, he left his residual estate to his sister-in-law Mary Browne for life and then to his nephew Charles Edwards. The identification of this man as the Jamaica slave-owner is reinforced by the presence among his executors of Thomas Todd (q.v.) of Fenchurch Street, himself a West India merchant and slave-owner.
