Biography

Inherited Decoy Estate and other property in Jamaica after the death of John Crosman.

  1. An unsourced genealogical site gives her maiden name as Campbell and her birth as 1794 in Jamaica, first husband John Crosman (d. 1826) and second husband Edward Pope, and her death as St Mary, Jamaica, 1834. This fits with the slave registers and almanacs for Crosman's properties. No marriage has been found so far for Maria Jane Campbell.

  2. Maria Jane, daughter of John Campbell by Charlotte his wife, born 10/08/1794 and baptised 07/11/1794 in Kingston, Jamaica.

  3. Marian Susan Pope, daughter of Edward and Maria Jane Pope, baptised in Kingston in 1829. Charlotte Frances Pope, same parents, baptised in Kingston in 1831.
