Biography

Owner of Dundee estate in Hanover, Jamaica, which was sold to Robert Hibbert at some point between 1826 and 1829 after Walter Murray's death.

  1. Will of Walter Murray of the island of Jamaica [at present in London] [made in 1822] proved 12/06/1826. He left the Dundee estate in trust (his trustees were his brother William Murray and George Lawrence of Cowesfield House Wiltshire) to be sold, and the proceeds used to secure an annuity of £200 p.a. to his wife Eliza Tharp, on top of the £300 p.a. due to her under their marriages settlement. The principal was to be divided into 1/6th shares of which 2/6ths were to go to his son Walter at 23; then the residue was to be divided into fifths, and 2/5ths to go to his daughter Georgiana Catherine Murray; then the residue was to be divided again into five parts, of which 2/5ths were to go to his daughter Eliza and the rest to be divided between his sons Henry and William.
