Biography

Resident Jamaica slave-owner.

  1. Administration of the will of John Marshall gentleman of Kingston Jamaica [made in 1795] was granted 15/01/1822. Under the will he left £500 to Joseph Barnes his trust to buy the freedom of 'a Brown woman' Sarah Garrick and her three 'quadroon' children Edward, Ann and John, the reputed children of John Marshall, and left each of the four £100 currency each, as well as an enslaved person to each of the three children: a man named Sharp, and two women named Prin [?] and Peggy, together in the case of the latter two people with their 'future increase.' His residuary heir was his brother Joseph Marshall of the City of London [who has not yet been traced by LBS].
