Alexander Gordon of Tobago

Previous owner of Trois Rivieres, Spey Side and Bacolet in Tobago, compensation for which was paid to his nephews John Gordon of Cluny and Alexander Gordon (1779-1839) (each of whom q.v.).

1. 'Alex. & Nat. Gordon' were the original purchasers on 05/06/1770 of Northeast division (St John parish) Lots no. 35 and 36, which by 1773 were owned, together with Northeast division Lot no. 28 (which had originally been purchased 09/05/1769 by George Guise) by Alexander Gordon alone. Lots nos. 28 and 36 became the Starwood estate, and Lot no. 35 the Belmont estate.

2. Will of Alexander Gordon planter of Cecil Street, Strand Middlesex proved 19/09/1801. Under the will among other monetary legacies he left £2000 each to his three nieces the daughters of Charles Gordon of Braid, and £1000 each to his nieces the daughters of his sister Mrs Ross. To the 'mulatto woman Mary wife of John Gordon carpenter in Tobago', he left 'her three sons' and forty pounds per annum. He left his estates to his nephews John Gordon and Alexander Gordon, sons of Charles Gordon of Braid.
