Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

An English clergyman, administrator and son and heir of William Harriott senior (q.v.), and a claimant of compensation on the Mexico estate in St Elizabeth Jamaica. Vicar of Odiham Hampshire.

  1. Will of Rev. William Harriott clerk of Odiham Hampshire proved 19/07/1847. In the will he rehearsed the provisions of his father's will, and said that no part of the annuity of £600 p.a. due to him under that will had been paid, because the income from the estate had not been adequate to clear the prior encumbrances on it. He left his own wife £200 p.a. for life from the same estates, then to his four daughters and two younger sons, and a further £300 p.a. to his children. He had money in the Clergy Mutual Assurance Society, and shares in the Paris and Rouen Railway and in the Paris and Orleans Railway [which he sold before his death, according to a codicil].

  2. Advertisement in the Public Ledger, 20/12/1862 for the sale of the encumbered estate of William Harriott deceased, ex parte Charlotte Pengelly [sister of Rev. William Harriott] and others, valuable sugar estates called Mexico, Santa Cruz Park and Sally Hall Pen, total of 2022 acres.
