Biography

Absentee in England, claimed the compensation for the enslaved people on the Cleland and Farm estates on Barbados, which was paid to trustees (almost certainly under their marriage settlement) to secure £356 p.a. to his second wife Caroline Chaloner during her life. The trustees included Robert Chaloner MP (q.v.), Cumberbatch's brother-in-law.
