Born 03/12/1823 and baptised 31/12/1783 in Greenock, son of James Tasker, merchant, and his wife Rosina Robertson. Living at 86 Union Street with his parents and siblings in 1841, age 17, "merchant clerk".
Died at St Johns, Canada, 02/11/1860 and buried there: "This pillar marks the spot where his mortal remains were interred, in presence of nearly all the inhabitants of St Johns, who spontaneously assembled to evince their respect for his character, their gratitude for his services to the community, and their deep sorrow for his early and sudden death."
