Son of John Bovell (q.v.). Physician and educationalist in Canada 1848-1870. Born in Barbados 18/10/1817. Moved to Nevis in the West Indies in 1871, ordained as a clergyman and worked as a curate then as a rector in Nevis until his death in 1880.
Living at Denison Avenue, Toronto, in the census of 1861, with his wife Julia and daughters Sarah Julia (age 22, born Ireland, currently on a visit to Barbados), Mary Emily Stokes, age 21, born Barbados, Alice James, age 19 [sic], born Barbados, and Laura Louisa Johnson age 11, born Canada.
