Biography

  1. In her will dated 13/07/1839, Rebecca Beard of Trelawney, Jamaica, named her executors as William Frater and Jane Laing spinster, Elizabeth Amelia Laing spinster and Ann Rebecca Laing spinster. Elizabeth Amelia Laing and Ann Rebecca Laing refused execution of the will, which was proved in London 20/05/1842 by an attorney to Jane Laing, spinster of St Ann, Jamaica. Effects under £600. Rebecca Beard bequeathed her £419 3s 2d in the 2% consols of the Bank of England to her three natural daughters Jane Laing, Elizabeth Amelia Laing and Ann Rebecca Laing.

  2. No baptisms have been found for the daughters but Elizabeth Amelia Laing, spinster, died in St Ann, 09/06/1885 aged 80.
