Biography

Probably the nephew of Walter Scott, owner of Reading and Plumb estates in St James, Jamaica. Walter Scott's sister Milborough married George Fletcher Coward in St James in 1800. No baptism has been found to Walter Scott Coward. Milborough and George's other children were George Scott Coward, John Fletcher Coward, Mary Tharp Coward, Ann Catherine Coward, Sarah Elizabeth Coward and William Tharp Coward.

Walter Scott Coward and his wife Ann Emily had three children baptised in Jamaica: Walter Vidal (1838), Rodolphus Buchanan (1842) and Ann Emily (1847).

The administration of the estate of Walter Scott Coward, late of Jamaica, who died 21/07/1853 at Jamaica, was granted to Walter Scott Vidal Coward of 36 Northumberland Street, Strand, Middlesex, gentleman, the son, in 1860. Effects under £50.
