Biography

Awarded the compensation for five enslaved people on Pitfour estate in St James: the compensation for the remainder of the enslaved people on the estate was awarded to Elizabeth Lawrence Hay (q.v.) .

  1. The banns of James Crang and Susannah Laurence [sic] Hay were recorded at Bristol 08/02/1808.  In 1841 James Crang aged 60 surgeon and Susanna Crang aged 50 were living at Timsbury Somerset with 7 children aged 10 to 30; by 1851, James Crang was a widower in the same parish.  The death of Susana [sic] Lawrence Crang was registered at Clutton Somerset Q2 1844.
