Biography

Born in Jamaica and apparently resident there, husband of Elizabeth Alice Evans, the cousin of Rebecca Cresse Evans and her siblings.

  1. Richard Chambers registered enslaved people in Hanover in right of his wife Elizabeth Alice Chambers from 1817 onwards.

  2. Richard Chambers, "White", age 35, was living in Lucea in the census of 1823. The following entry is for Alice Garrison (q.v.) who was presumably living in his household. Subsequent entries are for his wife Elizabeth (age 30) and children William Christopher (8), Elizabeth (6), Edward (4), Ann (3), Richard (1) and John (1). The neighbourhood in Lucea was dominated by Chambers relatives.
