Biography

Sister and legatee of James Trant of Montserrat who died c. 1804: Elizabeth Hill of Reading counterclaimed on the Lower or Lower Windward estate on Montserrat for £1600, 32 years arrears (of an annuity of £50 p.a.). The money was paid to trustees including Henry Trant. Apparently a different woman from the Elizabeth Hill (q.v.) who claimed unsuccessfully for Reeds Hill & Spring Estate in Montserrat, who was presumably the widow of Thomas Hill (q.v.).

  1. Will of Elizabeth Hill widow of Reading Berkshire [made 09/12/1836] proved 26/01/1837. She left personal effects to several people including Mrs Hill the widow of the late Thomas Hill Esq. Her residual legatee was Edward Ashby [also given as Ashley] of No. 16 Golsten Buildings New Road Bermondsey subject to an annuity of 3 shillings per week to Ashby's father.
