Margaret Sutherland

1. Margaret Sutherland, 'free mulatto' signed as owner of nine enslaved people in 1817.

2. Margaret Sutherland Junior is recorded as being the owner of ten enslaved people in 1820. Andrew Sutherland signed for her and described her as “Margaret Sutherland Junior, free brown woman”

3. Margaret Sutherland's entry in the 1832 register states she is the owner of eight enslaved people. It does not mention her colour.
