Biography

Speculator in annuities, MP for Bridgwater 1837-1841 and a friend and advisor of Wordsworth, for whom he used to do research on longevity in parish records in the Lake District. He counterclaimed as annuitant on an estate belonging to the Tharp family in St Ann.

  1. In 1835 he was shown as Philip Courtenay of 23 Montague Street and 3 Harcourt Buildings Temple. Will of Philip Courtenay of Inner Temple proved 22/01/1842.
