Biography

Son of Langford Lovell Hodge (Codrington attorney in Antigua 1805-1816) and Rebecca Ottley, and nephew of Henry Hodge (d. c. 1823) and Henry's widow Eliza Hodge (the owners of Hodge's Bay in 1817 and 1824). 1st marriage Edinburgh 1830. 2nd marriage with Ellen Barwell took place in Antigua 1849 according to IGI, but a marriage is recorded for Langford Lovell Hodge at Hove in Q3 1846. He appears to have been active in London as a merchant only in the late 1830s and 1840s. Papers in Bodleian. 

  1. Burial of Langford Lovell Hodge of 20 Albany Villas Hove nr Brighton aged 54 08/03/1862. His personal estate was less than £300 when administration was granted to his son Rev. William Henry O'Bryen Hodge 01/07/1862.  

  2. Hodge's half-share of the abandoned plantations Vryheid and Philadelphia in British Guiana were taken into the possession of the Administrator-General of Berbice in 1851, 'Langford Lovell Hodge being absent from the colony without having an attorney or agent to represent him'. 

  3. Married 02/04/1830 Anne (Annie) Elizabeth Hart (1806-1838) at St George's Edinburgh.
