Biography

Harriet Williams, eldest daughter of Charles White Williams (q.v.) and his wife Harriet nee Chubb.

  1. Named in the will of Charles White Williams as his eldest daughter and one of his executors. He wished her to keep house in England for the benefit of her younger sisters and as a home for her brothers and left her her mother's bust in marble. He left £2000 to each child upon reaching the age of 23.

  2. Born 11/05/1811 and baptised 30/08/1811 in Weybridge, Surrey, along with her twin Charles White Williams junior. Later siblings were baptised in Weybridge and Epsom. In the census of 1861 she was Superintendant of the Home and Colonial School, 11-17 St Chad's Row, St Pancras, age 50, born in Banstead, Surrey. The census lists 5 additional schoolmistresses and 41 students as well as servants. In 1871 she was living at 12 Alma Road, Islington age 60, Annuitant, with her aunt Sabina Johnston and 1 female servant. In 1881 both Harriet and her aunt Sabina were lodgers at 38 Mildmay Grove, Islington.
