Biography

Father of John Brome (q.v.) and Emily Aldis (q.v.), son of Samuel Brome of Barbados and owner of Bromefield and Hannays. Died 1828 at Dorset Square.

  1. Will of Rev. John Brome clerk [formerly of Barbados but now of Dorset Square] St Marylebone proved 24/12/1828. He left his wife Elizabeth Ann Brome an annuity of £500 p.a. secured on his estates and enslaved people in Barbados. He left his daughter Elizabeth Ann the wife of Christopher Barrow of Sunbury Middlesex £1000 in addition to the £4000 he had settled on her at marriage. He gave annuities of £200 p.a. to each of his daughters Jane and Margaret, to be funded by purchase of £3 10s government stock, and £5000 to his youngest daughter Emily Arabella at 21. He secured further annuities of £400 p.a. for his son John Brome and £250 p.a. to his daughter Emily on the estates and enslaved people, which he left subject to these charges to his son John.
