Notes

Two of his daughters married people with imperial connections. Jane Jarvis (1772-1796) married Lachlan Macquarie (1762-1824), a soldier in the 77th Regiment who was stationed in Bombay from 1788 to 1801 and who became governor of New South Wales in 1808. Another daughter married James Morley, a wealthy former servant of the East India Company.
