Notes

This estate has not yet been clearly linked to the Slave Registers and Almanacs. In the 1825 Almanac (March 1824), Thomas Cowan was shown against Cedar Valley with 81 enslaved people and against Green Glebe and Swallowfield.

Note that the enslaved people leased by Captain Thomas Cowan in 1823 were registered in 1826 as leased by the executors of John Gordon.
