Notes

Not found in the Slave Registers but possibly combined with Haddon in St Ann.

Mortgage in fee of slaves resident on the Woodlands estate in the parish of St Anne [sic], Jamaica Dated 13 Nov 1828 between (i) William Carter of Millwood, Hampshire, esquire, and Catherine Carter, formerly Haynes, his wife (ii) Philip Champion Crespigny of Harefield, Middlesex.

Includes a copy of a return made to the Registrar of Slaves, 28 Jun 1817, giving names, ages and description of slaves on the Woodlands estate. [Ths deed probably covered Haddons in St Ann also given the pattern of the slave compensation].
