Views of Rome

Ann Sanders (later Inglett Fortescue) commissioned in 1785 a series of paintings from Francis Towne based on the latter's trip to Italy in 1780-1781, one of which, A View Near the Arco Scuro, Looking Towards the Villa Medici, Rome, is now in the Metropolitan Museum in New York after its purchase in 2010.
