T71/899: claim from 'The Hon Revd Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts' by Forster Clarke. James Heywood Markland was the Treasurer.

T71/558 p. 140: 401 enslaved persons were registered in 1834 by Forster Clarke for 'the trust estate of the Hon and Rev Society P.G.F to which he is atty'.

Ward, 'The Profitability of Sugar Planting in the British West Indies, 1650-1834', Economic History Review, 31 (2) (May, 1978), pp. 197-213: shows the Codrington plantation earning £2472 per annum, with 359 enslaved persons and a rate of interest of 7.7%, 1820-9 (sourced to USPG London, Codrington Plantation papers).
