T71/857: claim by James Whitehorne, absentee, trustee.

Joseph Sturge and Thomas Harvey, The West Indies in 1837 (London, Hamilton, Adams, & Co., 1838) p. 277 talk of 'one of the Baptist missionaries who is a creole by birth, and one of a family who though they have all been brought up in contact with slavery, have cleared themselves from its contaminating connexion. His brother, now resident in England, has manumitted his apprentices and directed a considerable amount received as compensation to be expended for their benefit.' P. 261 lists all the Baptist missonaries in the island, including William Whitehorne. [only other possibilities are Samuel Oughton or Henry C. Taylor?]
