About UCL iLAC
The UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic (iLAC), based in central Stratford, offers local residents free face to face general legal advice on all aspects of social welfare law including welfare benefits and housing.
Staffed by UCL law students working under the close supervision of qualified lawyers and advisers, the Clinic offers students a rich educational opportunity while also providing a valuable and much needed service to members of the local community.
Whilst volunteering at iLAC, students will gain valuable hands on experience and develop a greater understanding of legal needs while providing a much needed service to one of England's most deprived boroughs.
The Role: Data Assistants
Our Data Assistants will be based at the UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic in central Stratford. iLAC Data Assistants will assist with a wide range of integral administrative tasks, giving them a broad and overarching awareness of how a legal clinic works and the types of clients the Clinic supports as well as playing a critical role in ensuring data is collected accurately in turn informing our research and policy work.
Data assistants will be put into one of the following project streams:
- Case Reviews: Monthly review of recently opened and closed cases, ensuring all data has been accurately recorded.
- Client Evaluation and Outcomes: Monthly phone calls to clients with recently closed cases to request completion of evaluation forms. You will also be asked to follow up with clients, who have used our PIP one-off advice service, about their outcomes.
- Historical Cases: Updating historical cases and addressing missing data gaps. Ensuring outcomes have been properly recorded.
- Archiving Support/Preparation: helping to prepare closed cases for archiving and accurately recording data destruction.
All Data Assistants may be asked to support with other ad hoc research tasks.
