If you have been made a conditional offer, we look forward to you meeting our entry requirements.
You will need to ensure that you have met the conditions set out for you and provide the UCL Central Admissions Office with relevant documentation prior to the start of the programme and in good time to ensure that other arrangements can be made where applicable, including visa applications and accommodation.
You should upload evidence that you have met the conditions of your offer to the UCL application system, Portico.
Once UCL has received the relevant documentation confirming that you have met the conditions set out for you, your offer will become unconditional.
UCL will only permit students holding an unconditional offer to enrol on a programme of study.
You can find details of the English language requirements for the MSc programme at UCL in our Entry Requirements section.
If you are planning on taking the Pre-Sessional English Course at UCL, you will need to apply as early as possible as these courses are very popular and fill up quickly.
Apply online on the UCL Centre for Languages and International Education website.
International Offer holders
If you require a Student Visa to attend the MSc programme at UCL, the Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number will be issued to unconditional offer holders via the online application system (Portico).
The UCL Central Admissions Office will contact unconditional offer holders who require a visa directly by email with details of the process at the earliest in June.
It is important to note that the UK Visas and Immigration office (UKVI) will not issue CAS numbers until three months prior to the start of your programme of study.
The UCL International Student Support website provides lots of information that can help you prepare for coming to study in the UK, including:
Enrolment and Induction
Information about paying tuition fees can be found on the UCL New Students website.
Around six weeks before the start of the MSc programme (once you have accepted and met the conditions of your offer), you will receive an email from UCL Student and Registry Services inviting you to pre-enrol as a student at UCL.
You will need to complete the online pre-enrolment procedure before you arrive, so please make sure that UCL has a valid personal email address to correspond with you. You can update your email address on Portico.
Once you have completed online pre-enrolment, Student and Registry services will provide you with information about how you should enrol as a student at UCL.
You will find helpful advice about the procedures and documentation required to complete pre-enrolment and enrolment on the UCL New Students website, and you are strongly recommended to thoroughly read this page before you arrive at UCL to ensure that you have all the relevant documentation with you to complete enrolment procedures. Information for students arriving in September 2026 will be available on the New Students website from spring 2026.
We offer two pre-sessional courses: a Law pre-sessional and a Finance pre-sessional.
The Finance pre-sessional is intended for students who have not completed a first degree in a relevant quantitative subject.
The Law pre-sessional comprises two components. The first is an asynchronous foundation course designed for students who have not completed a first degree in law. The second is an in-person programme delivered during Induction Week, which all students are expected to attend. This provides core primers on the key legal topics underpinning the programme for both students with a quantitative background and those with a legal background.
Pre-sessional activities will run both asynchronously and in person. Students will be given access to asynchronous materials in early September and will be expected to attend in-person sessions commencing Monday 28 September.
Eligible students will be contacted directly with further details closer to the time.
During the first week of term, from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2026, the Faculty will arrange events to introduce you to UCL Laws and the MSc programme alongside your pre-sessional activities.
A detailed schedule of the induction programme will be provided in the induction pack in advance of the start of term, confirming event times.
Students have a number of compulsory modules in the Faculty of Laws and the School of Management, totalling 135 credits. You will then choose optional modules totalling 45 credits from a list of approved finance or law-based modules. Please take a look at our Law and Finance Modules page to see what modules will be available.
In addition, you will need to indicate your preferred dissertation pathway. You may choose between a traditional Research Essay (LAWS0327) and the Applied Learning pathway (LAWS0383), which includes both deal simulations and a work placement component.
You will get more information about how to select your optional modules when you join the programme.
