Accepting or declining your offer
In order to secure your place on the LLM programme for the next academic year, you must accept your offer via the online application system, Portico.
Accepting an offer ensures that you receive important programme information before the start of your programme in September.
If you wish to decline your offer, you must do so via Portico.
Meeting your conditions
If you have been made a conditional offer, we wish you well in meeting our entry requirements.
You will need to ensure that you have met the conditions set out for you and provide the UCL Central Admissions Office with relevant documentation prior to the start of the programme and in good time to ensure that other arrangements can be made where applicable, including visa applications and accommodation.
You should upload evidence that you have met the conditions of your offer to the UCL application system, Portico.
Once UCL has received the relevant documentation confirming that you have met the conditions set out for you, your offer will become unconditional.
UCL will only permit students in possession of an unconditional offer to enrol on a programme of study.

If you are planning on taking the Pre-Sessional English Course at UCL, you will need to apply as early as possible as these courses are very popular and fill up quickly.

International Offer holders
If you require a Student Visa to attend the LLM programme at UCL, the Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number will be issued to unconditional offer holders via the online application system (Portico).
The UCL Central Admissions Office will contact unconditional offer holders who require a visa directly by email with details of the process during June at the earliest.
It is important to note that the UK Visas and Immigration office (UKVI) will not issue CAS numbers until three months prior to the start of your programme of study.

Enrolment and Induction
Information about paying tuition fees can be found on the UCL New Students website.
Around six weeks before the start of your LLM programme (once you have accepted and met the conditions of your offer) you will receive an email from UCL Student and Registry Services inviting you to pre-enrol as a student at UCL.
You will need to complete the online pre-enrolment procedure before you arrive, so please make sure that UCL has a valid personal email address to correspond with you. You can update your email address on Portico.
Once you have completed online pre-enrolment, Student and Registry services will provide you with information about how you should enrol as a student at UCL.
You will find helpful advice about the procedures and documentation required to complete pre-enrolment and enrolment on the UCL New Students website and you are strongly recommended to thoroughly read this page before you arrive at UCL to ensure that you have all the relevant documentation with you to complete enrolment procedures. Information for students arriving in September 2026 will be available from spring 2026 on the New Students website.
We offer a pre-enrolment Introduction to Common Law course designed to support students from non-common law backgrounds as they prepare for the LLM. This is intended for students who have only previously studied law in jurisdictions where the legal system is primarily based on civil law.
Eligible students will be contacted directly with further details.
During the first week of term, from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2026, the Faculty will arrange events and talks to introduce you to UCL Laws and the LLM programme.
A detailed schedule of the induction programme will be provided as part of the LLM Induction Pack in advance of the start of term, which will confirm event times and speakers.
The International Student Support Team helps international students settle into life in the UK and make the most of their time at UCL and in London. They offer a range of interactive seminars and events and give you the opportunity to meet other new and current UCL students and ask questions.
